Energy Healing

Reiki

Reiki is a form of alternative healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the practitioner channeling universal life energy (often referred to as qi, or prāṇa) into the recipient’s body through gentle touch or by placing their hands near the body. The goal of Reiki is to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing by restoring balance and harmony to the body's energy system. Practitioners believe that by clearing blockages and supporting the flow of energy, Reiki can help alleviate stress, pain, and promote overall well-being. Reiki is typically non-invasive and is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments.

What conditions can Reiki treat?

Reiki is an "intuitive" healing practice, which means energy will be directed to where it is needed. This makes Reiki an excellent support for every body.

I see it as a way for patients to connect to and activate their own innate healing capabilities as well as clearing any blocks to healing they may be holding.

What can I expect from a session?

You will be invited to relax on a treatment couch, made comfortable and warm and then all you need to do is relax.

I will be working with either light touch or with my hands near the body. You may be aware of the treatment through subtle sensations of heat or tingling, visualising colours or just a deep sense of relaxation.

Every body and every session is different, the best way to experience Reiki is to let go of expectations and simply bear witness to what happens in the session.

How should I prepare for Reiki treatment?

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing if possible.

Eat something at least an hour before your appointment, it helps to have balanced blood sugar before treatment. But don't eat too heavily right before an appointment.

Allow some time after to sit and drink some water.
